About SSPP

altWords of Most Reverend Kasomo Daniel the Rector of The Society of St.Peter and Paul Philosophical and Theological Seminary:

Welcome to the Society of Saints Peter and Paul Philosophical and Theological Seminary website.  Here you will find information about the society, ministries and more.  We hope you find this informative and interesting.  God bless you.

The Priestly Society of St. Peter and Paul is a society of priests originally erected by Bishop Kasomo Daniel in Kenya, on 30th August 2008.The real birth of the Society is associated officially worldwide by ordination of Bishop Kasomo Daniel on 24th June 2009 in Nairobi Kenya.

Founded by Archbishop Kasomo Daniel, the Society of St. Peter and Paul is a priestly society of secular priests living secular life without vows, like any other Society in the Catholic Church. Its main objective is the formation of holy priests, of whom Holy Mother Church stands in such great need.
Today it is working in some few countries, and gives everywhere the constant Catholic doctrine, the Mass of All Time, the liturgy, as well as the sacraments, which are channels of grace and of salvation.

The Priestly Society of St. Peter and Paul  has one seminary established in Kenya as online Seminary to offer Church degrees to those training to be ministers of the Word. It also devotes itself to many other forms of apostolate and works of charity, We are more in educational institutions and some of our priests run schools. Our Evangelisation is more in Institutes of learning.

SSPP is a society of apostolic life.It is a group of men or women within the Catholic church who have come together for a specific purpose. Members of apostolic societies do not make religious vows. This type of organisation is defined in the Code of Canon Law under canons 731-755.

While members of apostolic societies have some community life, the mission of the community is given emphasis; members can be re-assigned among the various communities of the society as needed, and this lack of stability distinguishes this kind of society from some religious orders.

Clerics of a society of apostolic life are usually incardinated into the society and not the diocese, unless specified otherwise in its constitution. Each community has a right to its own oratory.

Members of a Society of Apostolic Life are allowed to own personal property. Members take no religious vows, but are instead bound by the same general laws of chastity and obedience as diocesan clergy and, in addition, swear an oath as members of the Society. In this sense its organization and administrative reporting status are similar to those of religious orders.

Canon Law (canon 731) speaks of such societies as being "comparable to institutes of consecrated life". St. Philip Neri can be considered the father of Societies of Apostolic Life.

Following from its charism, the SSPP Fraternity's mission is twofold: to sanctify each priest through the exercise of his priestly function, and to deploy these priests to parishes. As such, they are to celebrate the sacraments, catechise, preach retreats, organize pilgrimages , and generally provide a full sacramental and cultural life for lay Catholics who are likewise drawn to the rituals of Roman Catholic Church. In order to help complete its mission, the Fraternity has started its own formation programme with the goal of forming men to serve the SSPP Fraternity.

The SSPP consists of priests, Seminarians and laity who intend to pursue the goal of Christian perfection according to a specific charism, which is to offer the Mass and other sacraments according to the Roman Catholic Church.

SSPP is answerable only to Pope in terms of their operation (through the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei), rather than to local bishops.

Our Vision
A world class Seminary for the advancement of humanity, evangelisation and salvation of souls.

altOur Mission:
To form priests in the image of Jesus Christ, the One Priest in whose Priesthood every priest shares.
The Seminary is committed to providing a unified college and theology program of formation in priestly spirituality, pastoral ministry, chastity witness, emotional maturity, intellectual integrity and physical wellness.

Formation towards the ministerial priesthood centers around the Word of God and the Sacraments of the Church, most especially Eucharist and Reconciliation. This is complemented by personal prayer, a comprehensive academic program of liberal arts and theological studies, and a program of pastoral preparation designed primarily for parochial ministry.

The Seminary welcomes the diverse challenges of our time and promotes in the seminarian a commitment to work in unity with others in the Church with a pastoral solicitude which is exercised in fidelity to the Magisterium of the Church.
